As the Type II World Turns

by Mike Dewey

Capsize gone. Cursed Scroll gone. That stupid Humility/Nature's Revolt deck is gone, too. First turn kill decks, yes, they are gone as well (at least I hope so). Boy, I'm not going to miss the Rath Cycle all that much.

Sure, I had fun with it, but now we get to look onward to what Magic will be and not what it was. Mercadian Masques is the future of Magic. Frankly, it looks far mor like the Ice Age block. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you. Pitch cards are back as are big creatures in all the colors. The break-neck speed of Tempest will most likely be replaced by a slower (possibly blue dominated) Type II.

Change is the nature of Type II. Sarcasm aside, I will miss a number of the cards from the Rath Cycle. However, I can't help but feel a thrill of anticipation run through me as I begin - yet again - to re-qork all my decks. Everything is all new, again.
