Games Workshop has finally update their Skaven army book. Following their long standing practice this army is a good counter for the previous book and does follow the practice of nerfing the previous good items in the army and improving the units which previously sucked. Unfortunately this book maintains the most salient feature of the previous army which was the perponderance of special rules. This book has 11 units which have greater than one full column of special rules. Further there are several units with similiar rules which are different like the tunnel and the sneaky infiltrator. Of course when there are some rules exceptions some of the rules are incomprehensible and some items unplayable. Perhaps the biggest problem with this book is that no one who does not play the army will be able to remember how all the special stuff works. That makes this book a tournament nightmare. Finally as there are many unclear rules these will have to be solved by errata which always seems to be a bit biased. Thus the second new book of this year is a confusing, rules nightmare which will further game play problems great job GW.
