When presented with a tactical problem in warhammer I have often advocated fleeing as a solution but there are other options like redirecting.  To redirect a cheap expendible unit is placed so the opponent must charge it or nothing else.  This unit can then either flee and pull the opponent in a disired direction, or turn for the opponent will be poorly placed or pursue in a bad direction.  Either way this can protect against flank charges, set up flanks or deal with the unstoppable beat stick ofthe opponent.  Thsi is best done with cheap fast moving units like dogs, fast cavalry, giant eagles, or harpies.  Whatever you use this makes a excellent tactic for escaping trouble.
